My art quilts and fabric constructions are a natural outgrowth of my earlier work in printmaking and applied design.  Current work in layered gauze is an exploration of the complexities of overlaid pattern and color; the viewer is invited to come closer to investigate the frayed threadwork details and the gentle tangle of complex overlapping forms.

In my new “Marking Time” series, the soft textile surface takes on new meaning.  Time is flexible and ultimately ambiguous, so an attempt to tally time in neat rows with rigid marks is futile.  Incremental layers of frayed gauzes blur the edges of the marks and become a metaphor for the complexity and ambiguity that clouds our understanding of time.
